Awakening Will Open Fans Eyes and Ears
Mark Barnes, the BaD BoY oF ChilL OuT, is set to open your third eye musically speaking. The titular track off his release The Awakening will fulfill the promise of the title, as will the rest of the CD. Barnes ambient electronica is a refreshing rush of chillout goodness, opening up amazing soundscapes that connect the ears and the minds eye with lush melodies and organic wholeness often missing from the electronic realm.
Awakening is a keys based and deeply moving track. Its keyboard line and the overwhelming beauty of its background river of ambient melody make a sky full of clouds in the human heart. It equally embraces classic piano music flavors and cutting edge new age glory. Elegant and absorbing, Awakening is a sure-fire hit for the chillout scene.
Barnes music has been featured in a number of magazines and web sites, including EmmeK New Age and New Sounds Magazine (Dec. 2007) and AMMA AnR (Aug. 2007). He was a top 20 finalist in the instrumental category for the 11th annual edition of Unisongs International Songwriting Contest. Barnes was the featured artist for October 2007 on the Pulse of the Planet radio program. Three songs from The Awakening are reviewed in the Jan. 3 edition of Music Connection Magazine.
Barnes music is regularly played on Mystic Age Radio, Mystic Soundscapes Internet Radio, 93.7 WGYL FM in Florida, the Cygnus Radio program and I-Tunes New Age Internet Radio Station. His songs have been selected for several compilation CDs.
The artist is busy working on new music at the moment, as well as re-mixes of other artist’s electronic works. One of 2008 - 2009’s planned projects is a Christmas CD by Barnes. He is also in the process of researching digital animation and live action video to couple with his music. “The goal is to combine the two for a live stage performance similar to the ‘Mind’s Eye’ video series and Animusic video,” he explains. He records in his home studio using a 48-track HiMAT with high-quality output.
Barnes is under management with Sher LeFever and Confederate Starz Artist Manager, a leading independent artist management firm, based out of Mesa, Arizona. Additionally, Barnes is a member of the Hollywood, CA Chamber of Commerce; an Associate Member of The Recording Academy (LA Chapter); and will be a performer as well as is a nominee for Instrumental Album (The Awakening) and Instrumental Artist of the Year Awards for the 18th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, which will be held at The Music Box @ Fonda, November 20th, 2008.
